About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a leading organisation operating within the data centre and mission-critical infrastructure sector to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Officer (HSE).

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive health and safety professional to support projects and operations across multiple live data centre sites throughout Europe. Based in Amsterdam, you’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, site teams and clients to drive a positive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance and continuously improve health, safety and environmental performance.

Due to the nature of the role, fluency in both Dutch and English is essential, along with the flexibility to travel regularly across Europe.

The Role

As Health & Safety Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the safe delivery of construction, engineering and operational activities across mission-critical environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day HSE support across multiple live data centre and critical infrastructure projects.
  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across European locations.
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture across project teams, contractors and supply chain partners.
  • Supporting Project Managers and Site Managers with health and safety planning throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reviewing RAMS, method statements, permits to work and construction documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with local legislation, client standards and company procedures.
  • Investigating incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Producing HSE reports, KPI dashboards and audit findings for senior management.
  • Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and HSE training sessions.
  • Supporting environmental initiatives and sustainability objectives.
  • Assisting with contractor management and monitoring compliance throughout project delivery.
  • Maintaining accurate HSE documentation and supporting internal and external audits.

About You

We’re looking for someone with strong technical HSE knowledge and excellent communication skills who is comfortable supporting projects across multiple European locations.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as an HSE Officer, Health & Safety Advisor or Health & Safety Coordinator.
  • Experience working within data centres, construction, engineering, M&E, critical infrastructure or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of European health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of construction safety regulations and permit-to-work systems.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS and supporting safe systems of work.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different sites.

Essential Requirements

  • Fluent Dutch (spoken and written).
  • Professional English (spoken and written).
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout Europe.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple project teams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Dutch HSE qualification (HVK, MVK or equivalent).
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
  • VCA VOL certification.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Environmental management or ISO 14001 knowledge.
  • Previous experience within mission-critical or live operational facilities.
